Kharif 2013:
Paddy, Jowar, Bajra, Maize, Blackgram, Greengram, Redgram, Soybean, Groundnut (I), Groundnut (UI) Sunflower, Castor, Sugarcane (Plant), Sugarcane (Ratoon), Cotton (I), Cotton (UI), Chillies (I), Chillies, Turmeric, (UI), Korra _ (20) Crops.
Farmers Covered:
All the farmers irrespective of their category of marginal farmers/small farmers or big farmers including Tenant farmers & share croppers are eligible to enroll under Crop Insurance Scheme. Corp Insurance is compulsory to all loanee farmers and voluntary to non-loanee farmers.
Premium Subsidy:
10% subsidy is allowed on premium to Small and Marginal farmers
Village Insurance Unit Scheme:
In addition to the Mandal Insurance Unit Scheme, the Government of Andhra Pradesh started "Village Made as Insurance Unit" Scheme for the first time in the country.
- Introduced "Village Insurance Unit Scheme" during Kharif 2005 in 5 Districts on Pilot Basis.
- Extended to 22 Districts from Kharif 2008 season.
- Lower size of Insurance Unit (Village) is more representative in Yield estimation.
- Lakhs of farmers are additionally benefited in the event of crop loss.
- A.P has the distinction of being the first State in the country to initiate Village level insurance Programme and at present it is implemented in all the districts for major crops.
Coverage of Non Loanee Farmers:
To encourage more number of Non-Loanee farmers to cover under Crop Insurance Scheme, special drives have been taken up involving extension staff of the Department. There is good response from the Non- Loanee farmers and Lakhs of farmers have voluntarily insured their crops. Like wise, in the ensuing Kharif 2013 season also, all the extension staff will give wide publicity among the farming community to cover maximum number of Non-Loanee farmers to enroll into the scheme. Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS):
For the benefit of farming community, apart from the "National Agricultural Insurance Scheme" (NAIS) for the first time in the State, the Government of A.P. implementing the "Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme" during Kharif 2009 season. The Scheme aims to mitigate the hardship of the insured farmers due to the financial loss on account of anticipated crop loss resulting from incidence of adverse deviations of weather parameters like Rainfall, Temperature, Relative humidity etc.,
Perils under the WBCIS:
- Excess Rainfall
- Less Rainfall
- Excess Temperature
- Less Temperature
- Deviations in relative humidity
- Wind velocity etc.,
Automatic Weather Stations" (AWS):
To measure the Weather parameters "Automatic Weather Stations" (AWS) are established in all the Mandals of the State
Premium Subsidy:
The premium subsidy under WBCIS scheme is around 25 to 50 % to all the farmers irrespective of their category.

Modified NationalAgricultural Insurance Scheme (MNAIS):
The Government of India introduced Modified National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (MNAIS) during Rabi 2010-11 on pilot basis in 3 Districts viz., Prakasam, Nellore and Warangal which has many more farmer friendly features such as coverage of post harvest losses, prevented sowings etc. Being major crop, rice crop is selected for implementation under Village made as Unit under this scheme
Additional Features:
- Coverage of prevented sowings
- Coverage of post harvest losses
- Localized calamities (hail storm) covered & claims assessment on individual basis
- District major crop under Village Insurance Unit.
- Claims processed based on past 7years average yield by excluding 2 disaster years
- On account payment: In the event of mid season crop failure, 25% of likely claim will be paid in advance to the farmers.
- Minimum indemnity level in case of MNAIS is 70%.
Premium Subsidy:
40 % to 75 % of premium subsidy is allowed to all the farmers irrespective of their category.
